The master is the one who learned the craft. The roaster is the one who knows when to take the beans out. Both are the same work: heat, time and judgement.

I am a Senior Modern Workplace Consultant at amexus and have been a Microsoft MVP since 2023 — for Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Viva until 2026, for Microsoft Foundry since July 2026. I build SharePoint, Teams, Entra and Azure landscapes, give sessions about them and write down what goes wrong along the way. Not the success stories — you know those from marketing.

The espresso is not a gimmick. Roasting comes down to the same thing as a project: you can set everything up correctly and still react a second too late. And once it has turned bitter, no amount of sugar helps.

The roast curve.

When roasting, you don’t measure the result, you measure the curve. When does the temperature rise, when does the bean crack, how long do you leave it afterwards. My career reads surprisingly similar.

2003 – 2010
DRYING PHASE
Administration

Apprenticeship as an IT systems electronics technician, then administrator at the Bezirksregierung Düsseldorf and at CEFCO. Servers, mailboxes, permissions, people who call at 5:45 pm. That time still shapes how I think about rollouts — from the end backwards.

2013 – 2022
MAILLARD PHASE
Consulting

After a bachelor’s degree at Hochschule Düsseldorf, into consulting: at GOB from working student to senior consultant, first in the SharePoint team, then collaboration. At some point it was clear: the interesting problems are not in the ticket, but before it. And technology is rarely the bottleneck.

2022 – 2023
FIRST CRACK
amexus and the MVP award

Moved to amexus as Senior Modern Workplace Consultant, the first MVP award in 2023. The point where what I was doing anyway became something other people could listen to.

In 2026 “Microsoft 365 Administration für Dummies” with Wiley. Sessions all over Europe, the M365 news show, the M365 Barista Talk podcast, YouTube and Instagram, the m365 Macchiato newsletter. Co-organising easyway365 and its LearningDays, the Azure Meetup Düsseldorf and the Global AI Community chapter in Bremen. Technically, lately a lot of Microsoft Foundry and agentic systems in real landscapes — since July 2026 also as MVP for Microsoft Foundry.
